Musicians from the Delaware County Symphony Orchestra bring their instruments. Each musician explains to the children the history of the instrument , how it functions and makes sounds, and why it is important to the full symphonic sound. They then individually play various children focused tunes. After each musician completes their instructional narrative and demonstration, the musicians perform two ensemble pieces such as the melodic tune Simple Gifts followed by a high energy performance of the foot stomping When The Saints Go Marching In so the children hear and see how the musicians work together as an ensemble. After the music making segment the musicians invite the children to step up to the individual musicians and ask questions and see the instruments up close.
