Sunday February 11th from 3:00-5:00, Havertown, PA: Come enjoy unique views of hidden gems in this area - Local artist Lisa Learner is having an exhibition of her original oil paintings of the trails, train stations, and other familiar locations along the Main Line, in Delaware County, southeast Pennsylvania, and down at the shore. Meet the artist and have some wine and cheese on Sunday February 11th from 3:00-5:00 at the Kelly Center for Music, Arts, and Community at 4 E. Eagle Rd, Havertown, PA, 19083. This display is up until the end of February.
Lisa Learner has been painting landscapes and people in this area all her life. She grew up in Wynnewood, lived in Narberth and Ardmore, and has since been a Havertown resident for over 30 years. She received her BFA from Tyler (Temple), and her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Her paintings are in the US, Canada, and Japan, and she is in the permanent collections of the Woodmere Art Museum, Conrail, and the American Council on Education in Washington, DC. She has been teaching painting and drawing to students at local schools and colleges for over forty years. Her paintings are all of people in locations that she is familiar with, and often include her friends or family members. Her husband is a woodworker and gilder and hand-carves wooden frames for all of her art, custom-designing them for each piece. He either chooses to apply gold leaf to the surface of the frame or else leaves a natural wood finish, depending on the look of the painting.
The Kelly Center for Music, Arts, and Community in Havertown is part of Kelly Music for Life, a wonderful 501c3 non-profit organization benefiting the community. During the day the Kelly Center offers programs for pre-school children and caregivers. The Kelly Center is also home to after school programs during the day for high school students run by the Haverford Township Free Library. Most evenings they host music events including Blues, Folk, Rock, Celtic, Bluegrass, and Open Jams, Comedy, and more. “Kelly Music for Life believes in the ability of music to bring people together and make them smile, and is dedicated to improving lives and communities through music and arts.” Art discovery is an important component of the Kelly mission. When people come in for a music experience and discover appealing 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional artwork in the venue, everyone wins.

For all events, we are focusing on SAFETY. We have improved air filtration inside the Kelly Center for the safety of Customers, Staff and Performers. We have upgraded to Hospital Grade HEPA air filtration, Negative Air Ion filters and Apple Catechin filters with antiviral and antibacterial properties. These upgrades trap and deactivate microscopic bacteria and viruses, and can diminish or prevent the spread of diseases. Our HVAC draws in fresh air from outside, completely turning the inside air over every 5 minutes. We open the windows when appropriate to improve fresh air flow.
