MELLOW FEVER - It’s hard to be soft…
That’s what the members of MELLOW FEVER have discovered on their journey to re-create some of the seminal sounds of soft rock and AM radio from their youth. Definitely NOT a “Yacht Rock” band (“There’s no way we’re wearing captain’s hats,” says lead singer DAN REED), MF has instead chosen to pay homage to some of the most intimate, memorable, and yes – catchy – songs ever written. Whether it’s covering SEALS & CROFTS, AL STEWART, ATLANTA RHYTHM SECTION, or JACKSON BROWNE, the band is out to take their audience on a journey of memories and fun.
Consisting of a true all-star cast of Philadelphia musicians, MELLOW FEVER boasts incredible four-part harmonies, twin guitars, tasty keyboards, and saxophone. Their trip isn’t irony… the band truly enjoys playing these easy-going tunes and recognizes the songs’ craftsmanship and resilience. The members of MF have played music in many genres – punk, metal, R&B, pop, rock… even Hawaiian – but their most common denominator is a collective ear for a finely crafted song.
The band’s repertoire will most certainly appeal to those who remember the songs from listening to their favorite radio station during their formative years. The great thing about MELLOW FEVER’s audience, however, is the wide range in ages that show up at their shows. The “word of mouth” factor of their performances is special, and it’s especially cool to witness a crowd of 20-somethings through grandparents harmonizing the ‘la-la-la’s’ at the end of “A Horse With No Name”. It’s rare, it’s fun, and it’s what MELLOW FEVER brings to the table… or the stage (even though they’ve been known to play on a few tables).
